Cardio Cocktail and Omega 3 Perilla Oil |
Perilla frutescens is an Asian plant that is a member of the mint family containing high amounts of Omega 3 fatty acids. Leaf extracts have shown antiallergic, anti-inflammatory, and tumor-preventing effects and may prevent the progression of glomerulonephritis. Many health benefits have been associated with Perilla Oil. Serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels decreased in rats fed perilla oil. Beneficial changes in the levels of eicosapentaenoic acid and arachidonic acid were also observed in these animals. In a model of age-related deficits in learning and memory, mice fed a diet enriched with perilla oil demonstrated better learning performance and less hyperactive behavior than those fed an alpha-linolenate-deficient diet. Studies suggest that this plants oil may have many cardiovascular benefits as well being high in Omega 3 fatty acids. Why Not Use a Fish Oil? With the pollution problem in our world today fish are not the best choice for Omega 3 fatty acids being most susceptible to their environment. Animals and humans tend to store their toxins in fatty tissue and this has certainly been true of fish. Showing to have high mercury content causing great concern in the scientific community. Another problem with fish oil is rancidity. To prevent exposure to toxicity and the problems with see with rancidity Perilla oil has been an optimal choice.
