This was of great concern considering how increased consumption impacted directly on the metabolic syndrome, contributing to heart disease, diabetes, high blood sugar and unhealthy cholesterol levels. Professor Faadiel Essop, the review’s senior author, said: Our analysis revealed that the frequent intake of these beverages contributes to a number of health complications.
Individuals who consume a large number of unhealthy carbohydrates put themselves at risk for diabetes. These unhealthy carbs dump a lot of sugar into our bloodstream and spike insulin levels and overwork the pancreas. That is why it is important to eat good carbohydrates and keep your insulin levels in check.
